Client Case Studies

Real People. Real Movement. Real Progress.

Every person who comes to me has a different story. Some are recovering from surgery. Others are living with long-term back pain, stiffness or a loss of confidence after injury. Some simply want to stay active as they get older.

There isn't a one-size-fits-all programme.

Every plan is built around the individual, their goals and what matters most to their everyday life.

Here are just a few of the people I've had the privilege of helping.

Client: Justin

Justin "Pain Was Affecting My Everyday Life"

Justin's Challenge

Justin had ongoing stiffness and discomfort that was limiting everyday movement.

Simple activities felt harder than they should, and exercise often made him anxious about making things worse.

What We Focused On

Instead of intense workouts, we focused on improving movement quality.

Daily mobility.

Joint control.

Strength where it mattered most.

Everything was adapted around how Justin was feeling each week.

The Outcome

As movement improved, so did confidence.

Justin became more comfortable with everyday activities and developed a routine that he could continue independently.

Who This Helps

Perfect for people who know they need to move more but aren't sure where to begin.

Client: Stephen

Stephen "I Was Told I'd Probably Need Surgery"

Stephen's Challenge

Stephen had spent 3 months in hospital with a back injury. Then he was struggling with persistent back pain that was beginning to affect almost every part of daily life. Including playing with his kids and playing squash or skiing were prohibited. Simple tasks became uncomfortable, movement felt restricted, and he had reached the point where surgery had been suggested as the next step.

Like many people, he'd tried resting, different exercises and various treatments, but nothing seemed to create lasting change.

What We Focused On

Rather than chasing pain, we rebuilt the foundations.

We worked on improving mobility, restoring natural movement patterns and gradually rebuilding strength around the areas that needed support. Everything was progressed at a pace Stephen felt confident with.

The goal wasn't simply to reduce pain.

It was to help him move normally again.

The Outcome

Stephen avoided surgery.

His back became stronger, movement became easier and he regained confidence in what his body could do. Instead of constantly protecting his back, he was able to get back to living life. he now owns a collection of Vipr's, plays with his kids, plays squash weekly and enjoys family skiing holidays.

Who This Helps

If you've been living with back pain for months or years and feel like you've tried everything, Stephen's story shows that improving how your body moves can sometimes change everything.

Client: Gill

Gill "After Multiple Surgeries, I Needed My Confidence Back"

Gill's Challenge

Gill had undergone several major surgeries and was left feeling stiff, weak and uncertain about movement.

Although the operations themselves had been successful, nobody had really shown her how to rebuild confidence afterwards.

She worried about making things worse.

What We Focused On

We concentrated on gentle daily movement.

Improving mobility.

Building strength gradually.

Helping her trust her body again.

Rather than pushing harder, every session was about moving a little better than the day before.

The Outcome

Gill became more confident, moved more freely and began enjoying daily activities again instead of worrying about them.

She discovered that recovery isn't only about healing tissue.

It's about rebuilding belief in yourself.

Who This Helps

Ideal for anyone recovering after surgery who feels they've been discharged from physiotherapy but still doesn't feel like themselves.

Client: Phil

Phil "Movement Became Part of Feeling Better Again"

Phil's Challenge

Phil is in his early seventies and had periods where anxiety and low mood affected his motivation and confidence.

Physically he was capable, but mentally he often felt stuck.

What We Focused On

Rather than chasing fitness, we worked on balance, coordination, mobility and functional strength.

Every session included movement that challenged both body and brain while remaining enjoyable and achievable.

The focus wasn't perfection.

It was consistency.

The Outcome

By the end of sessions Phil consistently reported feeling more positive, more energetic and more confident.

Movement became something that improved not only how his body felt but also his mood and outlook.

Who This Helps

For anyone who feels they've "lost their spark" or wants to stay active and independent as they get older.

Julie "After Eight Years of Shoulder Pain, I Finally Became Pain Free"

The Challenge

Eight years earlier, Julie had lymph nodes removed following surgery. Although she had been advised to begin physiotherapy soon afterwards, life got in the way and she never received the rehabilitation she needed.

The result was eight years of shoulder pain and stiffness that she simply accepted as normal.

To make matters worse, she had also developed persistent lower back pain from spending long days sitting at an office desk.

She joined the gym to improve her fitness, never expecting that the aches and pains she'd lived with for years could actually improve.

What We Focused On

Once Julie explained what had been happening, we shifted the focus from simply getting fitter to restoring how her body moved.

We worked on improving shoulder mobility, reducing stiffness, restoring movement and gradually rebuilding strength through controlled, progressive exercises.

At the same time, we addressed the movement patterns contributing to her lower back pain.

Everything was tailored to Julie's ability and progressed at a pace that gave her confidence.

The Outcome

For the first time in eight years, Julie became completely free from shoulder pain and stiffness.

Even more unexpectedly, her lower back pain disappeared too.

Instead of accepting discomfort as part of everyday life, she discovered that the right movement programme could restore confidence and quality of life.

Client: Marian

Marian "I Thought My Best Days Were Behind Me"

The Challenge

Marian had lived with significant spinal problems for many years, including collapsed discs and persistent neck and back issues.

Everyday movements had become more difficult, and like many people in their later years, she worried that getting older simply meant becoming weaker and less mobile.

Her goal wasn't to run marathons or lift heavy weights.

She wanted to move more comfortably, feel stronger and remain independent.

What We Focused On

Rather than pushing through pain, we built a programme around restoring movement first.

Each session combined gentle mobility exercises, joint-friendly strength training and balance work, progressing only when Marian felt comfortable.

As her confidence grew, we gradually introduced more challenging strength exercises, always adapting the programme around how she was feeling.

The emphasis was never on doing more.

It was on moving better.

The Outcome

Marian became noticeably stronger and more confident in her movement.

Simple daily activities became easier, and instead of worrying about what she could no longer do, she began looking forward to what she might achieve next.

One of the conversations that stood out was when Marian spoke about reading the story of a woman who trained to lift 100 kg. Rather than dismissing it, she said she'd love to have a strength goal of her own.

That shift in mindset—from protecting her body to believing it could become stronger again—was one of the biggest transformations of all.

Who This Helps

If you've been told to "take it easy" because of back or spinal problems, but still want to become stronger, move with confidence and stay independent, Marian's story shows that it's never too late to start rebuilding.

Kathryn "Years of Back Pain Had Me Going Round in Circles"

The Challenge

Kathryn reached a point where she felt like she had to "get a grip."

She was struggling with ongoing back pain, carrying extra weight and no longer felt like herself. Years of physical work had taken their toll on her spine, and despite seeing several osteopaths over the years, she felt she was simply going round in circles.

She wanted to lose weight, improve her fitness and, most importantly, stop her back pain from controlling her life.

What We Focused On

We started by listening.

Understanding Kathryn's history allowed us to build a programme around her rather than forcing her into a one-size-fits-all workout.

Alongside small-group circuit sessions, we spent time in a one-to-one session focusing specifically on her back. I showed her mobility exercises and stretches that she could continue at home, while gradually improving her overall strength and fitness through progressive training.

The goal wasn't just to exercise more—it was to help her move better and build habits she could maintain.

The Outcome

Kathryn's back pain disappeared and, more importantly, it stayed away.

She continued attending the small-group sessions, completed my 10-Day Fitness Challenge, became fitter, gained confidence and enjoyed training alongside like-minded people.

What she appreciated most wasn't just the results, but knowing she always had support whenever she needed advice.

"I can honestly say that I feel so much better. Any pain has gone and it has not returned – nothing short of a miracle!"

Who This Helps

If you've been living with back pain, feel stuck in a cycle of treatments that only provide temporary relief, or want to become fitter without feeling intimidated, Kathryn's story shows what's possible with the right combination of movement, strength and ongoing support.
